The Greek Salvation – Arsenal v Olympiakos

After a dismal start to our Champions League campaign we’ve managed to salvage a glimmer of hope. It all comes down to the fixture on Wednesday evening now. Whether we play Thursday nights (and potentially wave goodbye to our title challenge) will be determined by this fixture. If that isn’t enough motivation I don’t know what is. I’m not expecting us to have a great CL run, our recent history doesn’t support it, but ending in the Europa League would be a much worse outcome for our overall season.

Surviving the injury crisis at Arsenal

The win against Sunderland was important for two reasons. First it put our season back on track at a vital point. Not only winning but moving up to second in the table a point clear puts us into a position of confidence going into the big midweek clash and the Christmas period. Secondly, it shows that even with the injuries we are a strong side and can survive.

Arsenal v Sunderland Preview

After a poor run that has left us winless in our last three Premier League games, and only pick up one point from two very winnable away fixtures, there’s a sense of gloominess growing over our season. If we were sitting here in the same situation but without the injuries the prospect may be  different. But with the rate at which key players are falling to the wayside it’s difficult to see how we’re going to pull off a big result in Greece midweek, let alone navigate the congested Christmas fixture list.
